Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio by two musicians, Angela has spent her life immersed in music. Now based in New York City, she performs, teaches, and advocates for the transformative power of the arts.
Active and in demand within the musical theater community, Angela is currently performing in the Broadway orchestra for Chess. Her extensive Broadway and Off-Broadway credits include Wicked, The Lion King, Sunset Boulevard, Suffs, Camelot, The Music Man, Old Friends, Merrily We Roll Along (Off-Broadway), Harmony (Off-Broadway), and the National Touring Company of Les Misérables. She has also spent multiple holiday seasons as a member of the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra for the Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes.
A vibrant part of the contemporary music scene, Angela premiered a new concerto written for her by composer Michael Boyman in the Fall of 2022, performing it with The Chelsea Symphony. She is a founding member of the reed trio Reeds Amis. The trio was invited by the International Double Reed Society (IDRS) to perform and present the unpublished works of Fernande Decruck at their conference in Tokyo in 2015, and by the International Clarinet Association (ICA) in Dublin in 2024. Their acclaimed album, Reeds Amis: The Reed Trios of Fernande Decruck, is available on all major streaming platforms.
Angela’s work connecting music to social advocacy is highlighted by her role in the Golden Globe-winning television series Mozart in the Jungle. She is featured, including a solo passage of Messiaen's "Abîme des oiseaux" from the Quartet for the End of Time, in an episode filmed on Rikers Island. Deeply moved by the experience, she has since worked to establish a chamber music program at the facility with The Chelsea Symphony and the NYC Department of Corrections. You can also spot her in the orchestra of the movie Bel Canto, starring Julianne Moore.
As a sought-after freelancer, she has performed with the Billboard Music Award-winning rock band AJR, Guster, and Japanese songwriter and producer Yoshiki. Her extensive orchestral work includes the American Symphony Orchestra, Binghamton Philharmonic, Syracuse Symphony, Mobile Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the West Point Band. She has performed as a soloist and ensemble member in major venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, the Library of Congress, David Geffen Hall, and La Fenice in Venice.
A passionate educator, Angela maintains an active private clarinet studio for students of all ages. She is a member of In The Pocket NYC (ITPNYC), a collective of teaching musicians dedicated to invigorating New York City’s Arts Education Community through benefit events, innovative performances, and exceptional instruction.
Angela holds an M.A. in Clarinet Performance from the Eastman School of Music, where she was awarded the Performer’s Certificate and earned both the Jack L. Frank Award for Excellence in Community Teaching and the Teaching Assistant Prize. She received her B.A. in Clarinet Performance and Music Education from Carnegie Mellon University.
When Angela isn’t teaching or performing, she’s likely busy chasing after her three boys Matteo, Rohan, and Eddie!
